US Piroxloid 1

5-drawer box with Mandarin covered with tin.

Box (242x162x145mm) is American. Made of wood covered with tin. Just like the drawers. With on front Piroxloids’ characteristic Mandarin and on both sides the Chinaman with Hat. The box is a bit restored.

Tiles (22x32x8mm) have two layers of celluloid. French Ivory on top and a black back. They are typical for Piroxloid. Like the bird on Bamboo 1, the letters on the Dragons and the flower tiles. There belong no spare tiles to the set.

Counters are strips of French Ivory celluloid with Western denomination.

Dice are made of French Ivory celluloid with Western points.

Wind discs are made of French Ivory celluloid. Their holder is made of thin celluloid.

Instruction manual is the standard Piroxloid booklet (© 1923) with the Chinaman-with-Hat on the cover.
